ABOUT ME

I remove parts of the mirror from the mirror.  By removing the mirror, I add absence. The mirror reflects everything precisely, without any interest, meaning or attitude.

My works often relate to the butterfly effect, the main principle of chaos theory. The idea is that humans and other living beings are interwoven and connected to nature in a massive, self-regulating ecological system. A small change in one place can ultimately lead to huge changes somewhere else. I primarily make sculptures with manipulated mirrors. We as viewers can see a work, ourselves and the surroundings, and at the same time become part of a complex network: we become part of a picture of how the world is interwoven.

“Earth needs this tenderness, I think there is some kind of fusion between tenderness and sadness, joy, yearning, longing, horror (tricky one), laughter, melancholy and weirdness. This fusion is the feeling of ecological awareness.” Timothy Morton

I wear perfume No.34 from Diptyque. The nose is Olivier Pescheux.
